4 Reasons to Join Your Local Track Club

Hi, in this post I want to share with you four of the benefits of joining your local track club.  I became a member of the Atlanta Track Club in January of this year, and I firmly believe that it was one of the wisest decisions that I have made.  The top four benefits that I will talk more about are:

  1. Free Races
  2. Social Experience
  3. Improve Your Health
  4. Healthy Competition

Free Races

The first major benefit that I received when I joined the Atlanta Track Club was free entry into select events and races.  An annual membership will give you free entry into more than 6 races per year.

Now, let’s just hypothesize that your average entry fee to participate in a 5k race is $25.  You would have to spend $150 for those races without a membership.  This is a serious savings when you compound it over time.

An $80 mud run here and a $40 color run there puts you out of $120 easy.  It makes that $35 track club membership look like a great deal when you factor in how much moolah you will save.

An Awesome Social Experience

In short, runners are friendly people.  I have woken up at the crack of dawn to get out of my bed and head to the starting line at zero dark thirty on a Saturday morning, only to be greeted by a wave of smiles and salutations.

This community is hands down designed for the introvert. Running can be a solitary sport, but it doesn’t have to be.  The energy surrounding a race or training event is contagious. And, before you know it that stranger that was in the warm-up circle becomes your new best friend.

I have always felt welcomed and invited at every track club sponsored event.  So, just show up and you won’t regret it.

Improve Your Health

It goes without saying that running is a great way to improve your health.  But, even if you don’t consider yourself a runner yet you will still find a home at the track club.

Your local track club is a place where walkers can join in, as well as those who want to walk/jog at various intervals.

And, just showing up and being consistent in any fitness routine can improve your health.  Having a group or team to help cheer on your successes can aid in motivating you to stick to your program goals.

So, this is the place for you, whether you want to lose weight, slim your waistline, lower your cholesterol, or just get a better night’s sleep.

Healthy Competition

As a member of a track club you can participate in member’s only competitions.

For example, the Atlanta Track Club has the Grand Prix Series, which allows members to earn point for participation and performance. You can look online and track your performance in comparison with your peers. And, at the end of the year they have an awards banquet for volunteers and competitors.  I am really looking forward to this event.

During group runs, you also will receive motivation and encouragement from the other members.  A little healthy competition is a great incentive to join a track club.
